Hi, I'm Natalie Jill. Let's talk about the problems associated with high fructose corn syrup. First of all what is it? High fructose corn syrup is something that manufacturer's develop to supposedly improve the quality, taste and texture of packaged foods. Now the first problem is the word packaged, when a food is packaged, it's highly processed and there's not a lot of nutritional value in processed foods. The other thing with high fructose corn syrup is it's loaded with sugar. It's much more sweet than actual table sugar and it's too much of a concentrated amount of sugar at a given meal. Having a little bit of high fructose corn syrup triggers an insulin response that instantly is going to make you want to crave and eat more. That's a problem especially when watching our health and our waistlines. It's also highly addictive. When you have high fructose corn syrup in foods, you will want more and more sweet foods. So it's a definite ingredient to avoid because much higher in sugar than regular table sugar, highly addictive, can lead to weight gain and it's almost always genetically modified.
