Hi, I'm Beth Shaw, founder of YogaFit. Today, we are going to talk about yoga with straps. Now straps are great for a variety of things. They obviously help you get length where you don't have length in your muscles enabling you to expand and enjoy your yoga practice a lot more. One of the favorite things that I like to do with a strap is to take it and do a gentle back bend with it. So you are going to grab on, open up and then extend up and back simultaneously. This is great for opening up the pecs, the chest improving your opportunity to breath. To take deep breaths. This is also very anti-aging and mood elevating as back bends are. So again we are using the strap to provide a little bit of resistance and also get a lot more space then we would be able to get any of us, would be able to get on our own. So no matter what your flexibility level is a strap can really help you. Now we are going to take that strap behind us now. Wrap it around and pull back. Again, opening up the chest, the heart center. From here we are going to bend our knees and come into chest expansion. If you've got tight shoulders this is going to feel amazing. Lets make sure that our knees are softly bent. We shake out the head and neck. Relax through the cervical spine. And breath here expanding as much as possible the entire back of the body including the shoulders. And last but not least if you like to practice standing poses but just don't feel like you have the flexibility to grab onto your legs. You can take a strap and just extend up. Take your leg out. Again the straps help us get length where we don't have length. I'm Beth Shaw and this is yoga with straps. Namaste.
