Hi, I'm Beth Shaw, founder of YogaFit. Today, we are going to do some postures that involve keeping our core center muscles firm while stretching. So, let's bring the hands to the midsection and pull the lower abdominal region in and realize the importance of our abs and our glutes when doing any kind of stretching. We really want to be pulling those muscles in and up. So let's inhale, lift out of the low back and then exhale forward. Bending the knees and then inhale, exhale, pull the naval center in towards the low back. Using the core center muscles will help you in your stretch. It will also help you maintain proper postural alignment and integrity in your pose. Let's come back up and demonstrate the same thing with the arms over the head, lift out of the low back, pull those core center muscles in, extend, good, pull them in, extend. Notice when you engage your core you automatically get more length and more stability. Also very helpful in back bends to keep pulling the core center muscles in and up. Moving into an airplane pose, again we're pulling the naval center in and up and let's come back up, bringing the hands to heart center. I'm Beth Shaw, founder of YogaFit and we're talking about the importance of pulling in the core center during yoga stretching. Namaste. Thank you.
