Hi, I'm David Pollock, and I'm gonna talk to you about sunscreen for skiing. I'm gonna share with you how to pick the right sunscreen and then I'm gonna share with you how you can make your own sunscreen lip balm. Windburn and frostbite aren't the only when skiing. You've got to watch for exposure to the sun. Exposure to the sun can actually lead to skin cancer so you want to use a broad spectrum sunscreen. Lets face it every thousand feet you go up in the mountains the higher you are the more exposure you have to the sun. So you want to look for one that has an SPF 30 or above and make sure it has a broad spectrum protection. Also, when using a sunscreen you often here it's good to use an ounce of product but lets face it when you're skiing you're covered up all over. So just need about a teaspoon of sunscreen, put it on your face, and any other areas you're gonna have exposed 30 minutes before going out on the slopes. Next lets talk about how to make that lip balm. Take a little bit of olive oil, a little bit of shea butter, a little bit of honey, my favorite take a vitamin E capsule and pop it open for the vitamin E and mix in some beeswax. We'll mix it up, we're then gonna add to it a little zinc oxide and you're gonna add that to the mix to provide the protection from the sun. Heat it up in the microwave, mix it up a little bit, and when it cools you've got the perfect lip balm that'll help protect you out on the ski slopes.
