Hi, I'm Natalie Jill. Let's talk about exercises with hand weights for the severely obese. Now you might think if you yourself were severely obese or somebody you are working with is that hand weights are not such a great idea. But it's actually quite opposite. Because when you are severely obese you may tend to not be as active, not use your muscles as much. And your muscles will start to atrophy. And the less muscle you have the slower your metabolism is going to work. And the less calories you are going to burn throughout the day. So exercising with hand weights is a great start when you are severely obese. So I'm going to show you four basic moves that you can do with hand weights. Now I've got some five pounds here. You can use lighter to start if that's easier. But you can start with basic arm circles out. And also the other way. Just to get everything moving. You'll feel that in your shoulders and your whole arm. The second basic one is just a simple raise here. So you are lifting up. You are working your arm primarily your shoulders here. Another simple one to start with is a bicep curl. Holding the weights here your palm is forward. Just lifting up. Squeezing it, doing them slowly. Even just doing a few will get you moving in the right direction. Another one is the back of the arm, the tricep here. Just leaning over slightly and you can hold on to something just to balance if you need to. But bringing that weight back just really working the back of the arm. Again using lighter weights just to get those muscles moving. So there you have it. Four basic exercises to start with with hand weights for the severely obese.
