Hi, my name is Stella Metsovas, and today we are going to discuss B12 deficiency and diagnosis. B12 is so important in the body, it does so many wonderful things for the nervous system, it helps keep homocystiene levels low. Homocystiene in excess can be really bad in the body because it causes inflammation. So number one, if you are experiencing symptoms like a sore tongue, fatigue, weakness, easy bruising, these are signs that you need to go into your doctor to go get a Vitamin B12 blood test. Now if you do come back deficient, the most important thing you could do is number one, you are going to supplement most likely with a sublingual B12, that means you put a tablet underneath your tongue and number two, you are going to want to use foods rich in B12 like yogurt, eggs, beef, liver and if you want to go really, really, really interesting, you can include lamb which is really high in B12.
