Hi, I'm Juliet Kaska and this is yoga poses for knees. Yoga is a wonderful form of exercise in order to support all the joints of the body, especially the knees. Yoga helps to train the body to function as one system supporting those joints. The muscles that support the knee are the quadriceps, the inner thighs, the outer thighs, the hamstrings as well as the calf muscles and these muscles get stretched as well as strengthened during yoga. A great yoga pose for the knees is called King Pigeon #1. Take your left leg and try to line up your shin with the top of your mat, take your back leg or your right leg and slide it behind you, extending it all the way out. Use your hands to lift yourself up and over your hips, try to keep the two hip bones in alignment. Walk the back leg back, lowering your left hip down to the ground and the right front of your hip. Use your hands to help sit yourself up, press the top leg, down into the mat and then lift your chest and look up, holding the posture. Another great yoga pose to help mobility in our knee is Double Pigeon. So take your right leg and we want to flex the right foot and line the shin up at the top of the mat here and then take your left leg and stack it on top of the right again lining the shines up so they are right over each other, the heel is on top of the knee and then the knee is on top of the other heel. Sit right up onto your sits bones, press your hands down into the mat and with a flat back, pressing out through the crown of your head and aiming your chest forward, begin to hinge forward over your hips.
