Hi, I'm Teresa, and welcome to My Fresh Kitchen. Today, I wanted to show you some foods that will support a healthy backbone. Often when we're eating, we think about eating for weight loss or performance. We don't always think about feeding our bones, which is silly because diet has a huge impact on the strength of our bones, and also the muscles that support them. So here are some nutrients you should look for to support your healthy backbone. First thing that comes to mind is calcium, and for good reason, it is essential for strong bones. Calcium, great sources of calcium would be low fat dairy products, yogurts and milks, and also lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. another thing you'll want to make sure you get is plenty of vitamin A. Vitamin A is imperative in tissue repair and bone formation. Another important vitamin is vitamin C, which helps the formation of collagen which is important for your tendons. And lastly you'll want to make sure you get vitamin D, because it helps with calcium absorption and vitamin K because it helps your body use the calcium properly. So as long as you follow the guidelines of a healthy diet which includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy products, lean proteins and healthy fats, you'll have a strong backbone to support your healthy lifestyle.
