Hello, my name is Max Jaben.Today, we're going to discuss swimming technique with the hands. We're going to discuss proper hand placement for butterfly, back stroke, breast stroke and freestyle. In the butterfly stroke, when your hands enter the water, your fingertips are down. Your fingertips are down, until you finish the stroke in the back. Once you finish the stroke in the back, your hands are up and your palms stay up all the way while your arms come around. Until your fingertips enter in front of your body. On back stroke, your thumb comes out of the water at the bottom of the stroke. Once you reach 90 degrees, your hand rotates. So, your palm is out, you enter pinky first and then, you do your pull with your fingertips facing the side of the pool. Breast stroke, you're going to start with your hands above your head. Go out to a wide position, and scoop your hands in towards you into a praying position. And then, shoot your hands forward. On freestyle, when you enter the water, your fingertips are going to be down. And as you finish the pool, your fingertips are going to be down until you finish with your palm up. that is hand placement for the four strokes.
