Jeremy Scott, Jeremy Scott Fitness. Today, we're talking about how to stretch your shins and your calves using foam rollers. A foam roller's a great tool to use during your stretching or any dynamic warm-up activity. Not only does it allow you to get your body prime for movement, but it also cuts down on a lot of injuries, which is really important for any athlete. Here's one of my favorite calf stretching exercises using a foam roller: You guys will simply place the roller on the ground, one leg at a time, placing your right leg on your Achilles, or just about where your ankle inserts. You're going to let your leg lay completely flat. You'll take your opposite leg, cross it over, both hands simply placed behind your back. In a slow and controlled motion, you guys are simply going to wiggle from left to right on your Achilles. Now, for some of you guys, this might be pretty simple, and you might not feel much pressure. As you guys work your way up your calf -- towards the meat of your calf -- you're going to feel a lot of pressure kind of push and really loosen up the tissue and push into that muscle, getting your leg prime for some serious, serious movement. Next time you guys are looking to loosen up those calves, hop on a foam roller and give my favorite exercise a try, and see if it doesn't do the trick. Jeremy Scott, Jeremy Scott's Fitness.
