My name is Robert Weeks, and today I'm gonna teach you about some Russian powerlifting training. Okay, guys, in Russian powerlifting you need to be very strong and very explosive. In order for us to do that we're gonna look at this one exercise with a hammer swing. Now a sledge hammer is a very heavyweight, it can be anywhere from 15 to 45 pounds. Add this weight onto something lets say is a dead object like a tire and what you have a chance to make a lot of energy but as we see not a lot of energy that can be destructive. Why is this important? Well this is important for men because this helps to build a very broad shoulder and this helps to build his arms. Also as you notice with my swing you see my core has to swing side to side. It has to allow my body to twist. My feet underneath me have to stabilize me correctly and I also have to make sure I have the proper amount of energy to swing this if not that sledgehammer can go very fast and very far. For the next exercise in Russia the kettlebell toss is very extreme for a few reasons. One it can cause a lot of damage and two it requires a lot of strength from small muscles like the biceps and hands. As you see when I pick up the kettebell one's resting around my lap area to the side of my body while the other one's getting raised up to my head. Once it gets to about nose level I'm then gonna let go of the weight and propel it up higher almost as if I'm tossing the ball in the air. Once it comes down I'm then gonna prepare my other arm to bring the other kettlebell up in the air while my arm that that initially launched the kettlebell is gonna go ahead and catch that kettebell. So I'm almost gonna make a juggling like movement. Now as you get more comfortable with this exercise you can go higher and faster and that's Russian powerlifting training. See you next time guys.
