My name is Robert Weeks. Today, I'm going to teach you how to jerk. Jerk is a weight lifting technique that refers to lifting weight from your shoulders all the way above your head. It's a good technique for power lifters and it's very good for your core and your leg strength. Not to mention your shoulders and back as well. It's an all around exercise. OK guys exercise is going to be real easy. What we're going to do is we're going to start off with a weight we're comfortable with. That means a weight we can keep in our arms without getting too tired just before we start the exercise. Just so we get our form down right. We're going to put our weight directly in front of our chest. I'm going to line up my arms so that they're level with my pectoral muscles. Once I have the weight resting there I'm ready to start my exercise. I'm then going to raise the weight of the bar over my head so that my elbows are pretty much almost locked over my head. Not completely locked but almost locked over my head so I can complete my range of motion. Once I have it up there I'm then going to lower it back down to my chest. Repeat this process until your body can no longer do this. And that's how to jerk. See you next time.
