Hi, I'm Cary Williams, and we're going over today how to close your distance in boxing. Well benefits of that obviously you can hit your opponent if you get closer to them but don't make the mistake of stepping too long with your step and jumping forward so that's not really how we want to close the distance. We want to take small steps when closing the distance. We also want to work angles in the ring so you never want to chase your opponent in the ring. You want to cut them off, that's what we call it in boxing. We're cutting off our opponent so if they are constantly moving to the left and you are constantly moving to the left following them, not going to work. You want to cut them off and you want to move to the right. That's really how we're going to start getting being able to reach that person to reach that opponent. So we can make steps forward but again no lunging forward but we can also cut them off. We call it cutting the ring off, you cut the ring off and you're going to reach them every time.
