This is Stacy from Transformation Thrive, and I'm going to talk to you about healthy meals that promote weight loss in kids. In order to promote weight loss in kids they need to eat more meals with whole foods that contain low glycemic foods and have fiber and nutritional substance. It's also important to replace unhealthy oils and transfats with healthy oils such as avocado, nuts and coconut oil. One of my favorite foods is called quinoa and it's a naturally gluten free grain that is a complete protein. It's a complex carbohydrate and it contains many minerals and fiber. You can eat quinoa plain or you can add your favorite spices and vegetables. It's good to get creative with this and have your kids help out, that way they may be more interested in eating it. So to make this chocolate breakfast porridge with quinoa and it's important to at least rinse off the quinoa before you cook it because it has something called saponins on the inside that can taste bitter. So with a quarter cup quinoa you add a half a cup of almond milk, one tablespoon of cacao powder, one teaspoon of black strap molasses, a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon, a half a teaspoon of real vanilla extract and I use four drops of vanilla stevia. Vanilla stevia is really great because it doesn't spike your blood sugar and it doesn't cause blood sugar imbalances. It's also no calories and cinnamon is a great thing to use because it balances blood sugar too. So you bring to a boil and you just let it simmer until all the liquid is evaporated and then once it's cooked I add a tablespoon of unrefined virgin coconut oil and coconut oil is great because it contains medium chain fatty acids that do not get stored as fat. Your body actually burns it for fuel and coconut oil actually raises your metabolic rate so it leads to weight loss. This is a really great cereal because it tastes sweet and kids really love it.
