Hi, I'm Scott White. We're here to talk about curling with barbells and bars. Curling with barbells is a great way to work your biceps. There's a lot of different bars or barbells you can grab so when I picked up this barbell, I rotated my hands outward and this is a natural carrying position where my arms end. If you are bigger or smaller than me it will vary your hand grip. So to work your biceps you want to just ideally put your hands in that proper position. So then you slowly curl up and curl down. Notice my elbows are also back. I'm not coming up like this. That's a swinging motion for your shoulders. We want to focus on curling so we keep the elbows back and nice slow and controlled and that will directly work your biceps more effectively than of course the swinging motion which you may see at gyms. The easy curl bar was a great bar invented because it had this easy curl to it so your natural position where your hands can be placed with the wrists will make it so you are in more natural position with your body. So you can come up and curl it. Again keep your elbows back, don't turn your wrists upwards. It's mainly flexing that elbow joint and that's what develops those great biceps. I've changed my hands position so I work more of a different muscle on the biceps. It just puts a little more emphasis on this other muscle called your brachioradialis. Keep your elbows in tight and keep curling. Using all the different bars or barbells and cables and dumbbells and so forth for your biceps are all great. These are just other tools and techniques that can work your biceps more effectively.
