Hi, I'm Jay McLeod. Today, we're discussing how can exercise help change muscle function okay? So exercise stimulates your nervous system which in turn helps develop reaction time and coordination. So your body will produce quicker movements with more force. To demonstrate how exercise enhances muscle function, I'm going to be doing a squat press into a split stance okay? So the first thing I'm going to do, I grab my barbell, overhand grip, okay? I'm going to hoist it up to my shoulders. I'm going to start with my feet shoulder width apart. Now from here I'm going to drop it to a squat and I'm going to explode up pressing this weight over my head and landing into a split stance nice and quick. I'm here, once again, I'll drop into the squat, pushing my hips back, I explode up, one foot goes forward and one foot goes back okay? That's my split stance right there. It helps develop reaction time okay, and explosiveness. It helps me put out greater force. Squat, press.
