Hi, my name is Amanda Kelly and we are going to talk about running exercises for beginners. When you are a beginner and just starting out at running, there are many different cardiovascular exercises other than running that you can do to increase your cardiovascular endurance and today I'm going to show you a couple of them. One great way to build your cardiovascular endurance and incorporate the running motion is by jogging or running on a step. You simply just have a step or even use your stairs at home and you jog up up and down down on that step. Using the step and incorporating jogging into it, is a great way to help you start running because it helps increase muscular strength in the legs and in the knees as well as the calves to get you started. Another great exercise for beginning to run is alternating back lunges. Lunges are great because it stretches through the hip flexors. It also strengthens through the legs for you to be able to have that little bit more endurance to continue with your run. So in order to back lunge, you want to make sure that you step your foot back and allow the back knee to come down keeping the core tight and your chest lifted and then make sure you come to a full stand, again keeping the core tight and chest lifted and then alternate to the other side. You want to continue to repeat that at least ten repetitions, three times.
