I'm Jamie Glick. I'm here to talk about how to run fast without really trying. There are many tips and tricks you can use to get yourself to run much, much faster and not even think about the effort that you're putting in. One way to run faster without really trying is to have a little caffeine right before you run. The caffeine helps block the pain receptors so you can run farther and faster and not have the same pain response you might get otherwise. Another thing you can try is wearing compression socks. Compression socks are fairly new, they've come out in the past five yeas or so, and the compression socks act to squeeze the blood and squeeze the muscle and increase blood flow to the muscles that need them, especially in the lower leg. The third thing you can do is tie your sneaker nice and tight. A tightly laced sneaker will keep your foot in there nice and firm and reduce the tendency to what they call pronate. Now, when you tie your sneaker too loose, you end up pronating your foot and using a lot of energy every time you have to bring your foot back from that pronated position. A nice, tight shoe will keep that foot in there nice and firm and keep you using less energy. Another way to run faster is to turn up the volume. You can turn up the volume to your favorite song, generally, a song with a faster beat per minute will allow you to run faster and farther without thinking about it, several recent studies have supported this. Another thing you can do to run faster is get heavier and I mean get heavier by lifting heavier weights. Hit the weight room, strengthen up the leg muscles and your runs will become much less effortful than they used to be.
