Hi. I'm Paula Stephens, and we're going to talk about how to prepare the day before your half marathon. So, the great thing is you've done a lot of training to get you this far. And the reason that we want to make sure you're fully prepared for your race the next day is because it will give you a little bit of peace of mind and help you be a more relaxed runner, which means you're going to be more successful runner. So, here are a few tips that you can take away and use the day before your half marathon So, the first thing you want to think about is hydration. Even though you're going to drink some during the race, you want to make sure that you drink plenty of water prior to the event. So, that day before, you're going to fill a couple of big bottles of water and make sure that you're drinking them throughout the day. The second thing you're going to want to do is stay off your feet. So, this is a great day to hunker down with your favorite movies or go see that great blockbuster that you've been waiting to see, but just make sure you're staying off your feet. The next thing you want to think about is the foods that you're going to eat the day before the race because this is going to be most important the day of the race when maybe your tummy would start to bother you. So, the foods you eat the day before the race, you want them to be foods that are tried and true. Don't go out and try the new, you know, Asian restaurant or something very different from what you normally would eat. So, eat foods that you know are going to settle your stomach well. The next thing I would suggest is make sure that you put all of your race gear together the night before. So, lay out the clothes that you want to wear, the socks, the shoes, the tops, the bottoms. If you're going to be layering for a race, make sure that you have a coat that you can tie around your waist during the race if that's what you're going to do. You also want to make sure that you have all of your energy shots, gel shots, water bottles, whatever it is that you're going to use for fuel during the race, make sure that you've put that in your day of race packet. And then, the last thing you want to do is make sure you pat yourself on the back because doing a half marathon is a huge accomplishment and this should make you feel really great. So, follow these few tips and it's going to get you to race day in perfect form.
