Hi, I'm Tanya Eberhardt, and this is "warnings about back stretching." Because the fascia connects all the muscles of your back, injuring one muscle can effect the other one. Move slowly, mindfully. Notice your sensations, and prevent injury. When stretching your back, make sure to move slowly. Moving slowly is gonna help you notice the sensations that your body is producing. And, when your body produces sensations, it's its way of communicating with you. Also, moving with the breath will not only slow you down, but it will help you connect to those sensations. For instance, inhale deeply to expand the rib cage, exhale to move into your stretch. Pause as soon as you start to feel a stretch. If you feel pain, back away. To go deeper into the stretch, continue to breath. Inhale deeply, exhale to move into the stretch. Pause, if you feel pain, back off, continue to breath to move deeper. And, this is gonna help you prevent injuries and get deeper into your stretch. If you've been injured, remember to speak to your physician before commencing any exercise regimen, and take it nice and slow.
