Hi, I'm Sifu Karl Romain. And these are requirements for Shao Lin Kung Fu Yellow Belt. Yellow Belt is one of the early levels of training in Shao Lin Kung. Now, most styles say, belt but in Shao Lin we say, sash. And in the yellow sash, we include the basic techniques of kicks, punches and strikes. One of the requirements for yellow belt in Shao Lin Kung Fu, is learning the horse stance. When you're doing the horse stance, you want your feet approximately three and a half feet wide. So, what you want is your toes forward, knees out, back straight and pelvis tucked. You want to make sure that your thighs are parallel to the ground. Another technique is our stationary basics. To start, we start by learning how to form a fist properly. With your hands open, I want you to bend your fingers, then bend them again. And then, wrap your thumb around the outside of your fingers. Now, extend your right hand. With your right hand extended, I want the left hand at the waist. As you pull the hand back, I want you to extend your arm in corkscrew and focus on your first two knuckles. This is the basic punch. There are many techniques in Shao Lin Kung Fu towards earning your yellow sash. What we saw today, we're just a few of the basics. Keep practicing, work your fundamentals and you'll get there in no time.
