I'm nutritionist, Siona Sammartino and this is how to broil an egg. If you're looking for a meal idea that's easy, portable and convenient, eggs are absolutely the way to go. Their high protein value will fill you up for longer and makes the perfect snack, breakfast, lunch or dinner. I like to use organic pasture raised eggs, they tend to higher in healthy fats and less inflammatory. So, here's how I like to broil them. We have two options for broiling our egg. Option one, is the single egg muffin. Start by preheating your oven to broil. Crack open one egg and place into an oven safe ramekin. Add a pinch of sea salt and fresh ground pepper and top with an optional one to two teaspoons of your favorite cheese. I'm using Fontina today, which is a creamy Italian cheese. Place the egg in the preheated oven and broil it for four to six minutes until the whites are no longer translucent and the yolk has set to your liking. Remove from the oven and enjoy, super simple and tasty. Option two, again start by preheating your oven to broil and then, place a bed of your favorite cooked vegetables in a well seasoned, 10 to 12 inch cast iron skillet. Crack three to four eggs in a bowl individually and place them one by one into your pan. Nestle them between your veggies. Place the cast iron in a preheated oven and broil for only four to six minutes, until the whites are no longer translucent and the yolk has set to your liking. Remove from the oven and you have a quick, simple meal that still packs a nutritional punch, I love it. That's how to broil an egg.
