I'm nutritionist Siona Sammartino. And this is how to make a chia egg. If you're in need of an egg substitute because you are choosing a vegan lifestyle. Or you simply have an egg allergy or egg sensitivity I got you covered. Chia seeds are this wonderful super seed loaded with anti inflammatory fats. And when you grind them up and mix them with hot water they just so happen to have an extremely strong binding capacity that helps use them in recipes in place of eggs. So a chia egg you would use in an egg recipe such as meatloaf or pancakes. Anything that uses egg as a binder. So this is how you make it. To get started grind whole chia seeds in a coffee grinder that you only use for spices. This way you don't get any coffee flavor in there. Bring three to four tablespoons of water to a boil and then turn the heat off. Whisk in one tablespoon of ground chia seeds and stir to combine. You want to allow this mixture to set by leaving it alone for three to five minutes before using this as an egg replacer. And that's how to make a chia egg.
