Hi, my name is Charmene Vega, and I'm here to talk to you about the health benefits of black licorice. You know, it's those little pieces of candy that everybody goes yuck! I really don't like them, they prefer the red vine. Well the red vine is not nearly as good as the black licorice. Black licorice ironically does come from the licorice root. However, these days they not only have the licorice root that they use, but they also use blackstrap molasses, which makes it very healthy for you. It's anti-inflammatory, it's low on the glycemic index, it also helps to prevent cancer, and it tastes good too. That's the other benefit, it also tastes good and it's a nice little candy. And you can just get little kids or anybody to eat it, but one of the things you want to do is maybe put it in a little candy jar. If you put it in a candy jar and just stick it around and everybody just thinks it's candy, then they'll be munching on it just like any other candy that you would have. It is a flavor that you have to get used to, but understand the health benefits outweigh those strong tastes that it may have. As Mama Vega says, chew on this.
