I'm Beth Hoover, and today, I'm gonna show you how to use your five pound dumbbells. Now, using dumbbells as an additional resistance is a great way to work the total body. Making sure that you find the right weight for you is very important. Today, I'm gonna show you how to use your five pound dumbbells using an upper body and lower body exercise. For the first exercise, we're gonna perform a upper body lateral raise, front raise combination. Standing nice and tall with your abs tight, we're gonna take the dumbbells and come out to the side and then bring 'em back down and then out to the front, and down. This is a great exercise to sculpt and tone the shoulder muscles, and to make lifting things that much easier. Keeping the abs tight, especially when you bring those dumbbells to the front, that's also gonna engage the core muscles. Second exercise we're gonna perform is a reverse lunge. We're gonna take a nice step back, bend the front knee, and then step back, forward. You can start with a partial lunge, and if you feel more comfortable, you can go into a full lunge, but make sure that the knee stays behind the toe. This is great for working the entire lower body. Make sure you push through the heel as you stand back up, and continue to breath.
