Hi, I'm Coach Collin Castellaw, and today, we're gonna talk about how to break in an official NBA basketball. It's easier than you might think. When NBA balls come fresh out of the package, they're super, super stiff, and they're not very fun to play with, and they can take a long time to break in. Most NBA teams will play with a ball six, seven months before they even put it out on the game court. So, there's a few drills we can do that'll actually break the ball in pretty quick, and it's not very hard 'cause you don't need to be in a gym to do it. So, my personal favorite to break in a new ball is couch dribbling. It's really, really awesome 'cause you can do it on a couch while you're watching T.V., in a chair, anywhere you don't actually have to be in a gym, and all you have to do is sit down in the chair, and work the ball between your legs. There's all sorts of different handles you can do. You can do right handed pounds, under the legs, in-out cross, and it's a great way to break in the ball without having to be in the gym. So, another drill that's great to break in a new ball is pound dribbles. That's where you're pounding the ball as hard as you can and try to keep it low down by your ankles. This is great because you get a lot of dribbles in in a short amount of time, breaking the ball in quicker.
