Hi I'm Christine King. Lets talk about how to stay fit over 50. This is an important topic because after 50 everything in the body begins to breakdown. And you have to do certain exercises to counteract that and maintain your strength and your flexibility. This can be done very simply. But after 50 you need to be a little bit more careful. So we want to use gentle tools like rubber tubing, light weights, medicine balls and stability balls. This will help you to first limit the range the motion during the different exercises. And modify if necessary if you have a joint or a limb that has an injury already. So we want to choose some basic exercises for you like a push-up on a stability ball. A squat where you can limit the range of how much knee bend. We want to go into some upper and lower back work. And of course some crunches. Also after 50 two other important components are stretching and cardiovascular activity. You want to build up to 20 minutes at least 20 minutes of your favorite activity which could be walking, bicycling or the elliptical. Anything of your choice. And that's how you'll stay fit over 50.
