Hi, this is Anita from Yoga Anita. And I'd like to talk to you today to answer the question, why would you use a rubber band in yoga? Well rubber band is a prop. And we use props in yoga in order to help us to get deeper into the pose. And it's also very helpful if you've had an injury. So the first pose I'm going to do is from a standing position. I'm going to wrap the rubber band around the instep of my foot. And grab a hold with my hand. I'm going to extend my leg out. This is going to help with balance. It doesn't have to come up very high. And then from there I'll go out to the sides. So now I'm getting hip flexion as well. And then come back to center again. Now we'll go into a classic tree pose. The rubber band is still wrapped around my instep. My toes are on the floor. And I'm gradually going to bring the sole of my foot close to my ankle. Using the rubber band I'm going to be lifting the foot so it's going to rest higher up on my thigh. And then I can release back down and go to the other side. Using the rubber band helps gives me more stability and helps me to get a little bit higher and deeper into the pose.
