How to make a guy stay down in wrestling. To do this, we have to distribute our body weight. Being able to distribute our body weight, keeping it on our opponent is key, and it's very important in order to stay in the top advantage position. In order to keep a guy down in wrestling, I first have to break them all the way to the mat. We're gonna start in the referees position today. I'm gonna use the deep waist and the far ankle breakdown. Putting my arm as deep as I can around the body to grab the far rib area. The other hand is gonna come around under the far ankle, lift the ankle up, squeeze with the other hand on the deep waist, driving them forward with my shoulder and my foot until they're on their stomach. From here, the objective is to keep them down on the ground. In doing that I'm going to distribute my body weight on them, and off of the mat. If I am able to do that, along with working techniques such as cross faces, arm bars, leg control, and I can keep them on the mat efficiently, best keeping the guy down in wrestling.
