Hi, I'm Nick Webster and I'm here to answer the question the purpose of soccer scrimmages. The reason we want to scrimmage are any but the key is that it's a game without pressure. We don't keep scores so it really doesn't matter who wins or who loses but it gives players and coaches a great chance to experiment on different things. Scrimmages offer players and coaches so many different opportunities. When you are playing a scrimmage, there is no pressure on you whatsoever. Scores do not count so you are free to experiment. What coaches like to do is see players in different positions. If you are a right back, maybe he's going to play you a forward, maybe he's going to see something in you that you haven't seen before and as a player yourself, there's absolutely no pressure. You don't have to worry about making a mistake. That's the beauty of scrimmages, great games, no scores, no pressure.
