Hello, I'm Stella Metsovas and today we're going to talk about vegetables that lower estrogen in the body. First off, let's discuss the basic role of estrogen in the body. Estrogen is a hormone that plays a major role in the healthy functioning of a woman's body. It controls the growth and development of female sexual characteristics like our ovaries and uterus. Estrogen needs to be kept in harmony with other hormones in the body without getting too estrogen dominant. Because our environment has become filled with xenoestrogens, these are chemically man-made chemicals that promote estrogen in the body, we are often considered estrogen dominant by the way. Studies showing young girls prepubescent girls are actually developing breasts and getting their menstrual cycles before the ages of 13 is probably a good example of estrogen dominance. Maybe some of you have heard of estrogen dominance or not. Now what if your estrogen levels are actually out of balance causing you to become estrogen dominant? You need to get that under control as soon as possible. Because I hold a very conservative opinion on food and how it relates to your overall health, I believe one of the single most important modalities for estrogen dominance is to select foods and more importantly a lifestyle for optimal hormone health. You want to stay far away from foods and drinks that raise insulin levels and those include alcohol sugars, all sugars, think like table sugar, honey, agave, artificial sweeteners and stay away from all processed foods because they increase insulin, even processed wheat in flour raises insulin, you should probably read the book "Wheat Belly" If you want more information on that. Too much estrogen in the body can also predispose you to infertility and reproductive cancers so stay far away from all and I mean all soy foods and careful because soy is loaded in most of your processed packaged foods.
