Hello, I'm Stella Metsovas here. And today, we're going to talk about what to eat to keep your gallbladder healthy. So what role does the gallbladder play in the human body? The gallbladder serves as a storage container for bile because it's released into the small intestines to digest food. Bile is very important to your health because it's the bile that actually helps digest fats by emulsifying them from the foods you eat. Now, if you've surgically removed your gallbladder, or the storage container of bile. You still produce bile in the liver. So, it's important to keep your liver healthy thereafter. Okay, so back to the gallbladder and the foods best to keep it healthy. You're going to want to include dark leafy vegetables like dandelion greens to naturally increase the flow of bile. These types of greens are actually called bitters in the country of Sweden and have been used often therapeutically as a digestive aid. Especially for keeping your gallbladder healthy. Second, you want to make sure you have a healthy, lean dose of quality proteins like wild game, fish and organic meat. Caffeine has also been shown to help the liver and gallbladder with healthy level of bile. Don't over do it here, though. You definitely do not want to raise cortisol levels and that in turn will affect bile and hormones in the long run. Now, the foods you definitely want to stay away from to keep your gallbladder healthy and you probably should not be having these anyway, are fried foods, processed foods and fatty red meat. Also make sure to keep the flow of bile healthy and moving by actually keeping your body moving throughout the day for optimal circulatory benefits.
