Hi, my name's John McQueen. Today I want to talk to you about how you can use your forearms in playing basketball. Now there are primarily three ways you can use your forearms in playing basketball. Number one is in defensive position. Usually your forearms you keep defensive position, particularly while you're under the basket making sure that you have proper spacing and making sure that you are able to maneuver and move your offensive player where you want them to go. Now this is perfectly legal providing that you do it within the confines of the rules of basketball, and that is you can't use your forearms to push, you can simply use them to establish position. You can also use your forearms when rebounding the ball. In other words, boxing out. And that is establishing your position, in most cases under the basket when you're preparing to get an offensive rebound or even a defensive rebound. So this is also a very good time to use your forearm in positioning and boxing out.
