Hi, I'm Kelly Kuder and I'm going to discuss the most relaxing yoga poses. Taking the time out of your day to relax and release stress is important and so good for the body, mind and soul. Doing relaxing yoga poses will help strengthen the immune system, lower blood pressure and relieve mental tension and stress. The first pose I recommend is Child's Pose. Begin by kneeling on the yoga mat and bring your knees out toward the edge of your mat and exhale your glutes towards your feet. Gently rest your forehead on the mat and close your eyes. Child's Pose still calms the mind thus helping to release stress and tension. Legs up the wall is wonderful for stretching the back of the legs, calming the mind, easing anxiety, headaches and insomnia. To get into this pose, sit sideways against the wall then gently bring your legs up onto the wall, using your hands for balance as you shift your weight and begin to lie down. Rest your shoulders and head on the floor, close your eyes for complete relaxation. And finally Shavasana which is very relaxing, start by lying on your back and placing a folded blanket under your knees. Let your feet rest on the floor and allow your legs to drop open. Close your eyes and allow your body to feel heavy into the ground. Then begin to turn your awareness inward and relax completely.
