Hi, I'm Linden Schaffer and I'm here today to talk to you about how to successfully create an eating and exercise plan. Creating an eating and exercise plan is actually a long term lifestyle change that you need to be invested in. It's a five step process that starts off with understanding where you are today and what your current lifestyle is, the reasons for why you want to change, setting small realistic goals, and then identifying action steps that will help you achieve those goals. And lastly which is often the hardest part is putting those steps into action. So the most important part of this process is the very first thing that you're gonna do. And what I suggest is for the first week keeping a journal. You need to write it down and be honest with yourself about everything that you do and what exactly you're eating. By keeping a journal, you're gonna start to identify what your current habits are, what things you want to change, and how you are going to go about and change them. For example, you might sit down and say, okay my goal here is to lose weight, or my goal here is to get a better night's sleep, or to even exercise more. And by keeping a true record of your full week, you'll start to identify areas that you can change to help you with this successful plan. It's important to keep in mind that failure is part of the process. I know it sounds strange, but don't beat yourself up. You're trying to make an important lifestyle change here, and slipping up is often part of the process. Just say to yourself, you're gonna do better next week, and start over.
