Hi, my name is Kari Pearce, and I'm a personal trainer at the New York Health and Racquet Club. This video is on simple stretches to do before bed. Doing simple stretches before bed will help loosen you up and you'll be able to sleep better. Make sure that you get in a few jumping jacks to warm up before stretching your body before bed. This will allow your muscles to be nice and warm. The quad stretch is done by first holding on to a wall. Bending your knee and grabbing your ankle. You'll then push your hips forward until you feel a nice stretch in the front of your thigh. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds then switch sides. The hamstring stretch is performed simply by kneeling down on one knee, placing your leg straight out in front of you. And leaning toward your front leg. The back stretch is done by kneeling on the ground, pushing your butt back toward your heels and stretching your hands out as far as you can in front of you. Abdominal stretch is done by starting laying on the ground with your palms in front of your chest. You will then press up your arms till they are straight. You should feel a nice stretch in your stomach. The shoulder stretch is done by crossing one arm in front of your body and using your other arm to pull as tightly into your chest as you can. You should perform this on each side holding each for 30 seconds. Once you've performed all of these stretches you should be nice and relaxed and ready for bed.
