Hi, I'm Rina Jakubowicz and how long does the process of realignment take in Yoga? Well, it depends on each student, but they need three things. The first one is willingness to recognize old patterns, unconscious patterns. The second one is willingness to strengthen the muscles necessary and the third one is the conscious awareness to apply those muscles when necessary. So, let me take you through the steps. Usually when we stand, we don't even realize that we misaligned. We slouch our shoulders, we drop our backs or we over arch our backs, whatever our tendency is of our spine, we're not even aware of it, we're unconscious of it. And we lean forward on our toes or lean back on the heels. What we need to do is be able to be conscious, which means we start to learn the muscles necessary to strengthen. You're going to draw the ribs slightly in to lengthen the spine, believe it or not, even though it's going to feel like you're leaning forward and the shoulders roll back and down. Fingertips point down towards the floor, your arms are extended long and your chin slightly tucks in to lengthen the back of the neck and create space between the vertebrae as the crown of the head reaches up towards the ceiling, otherwise known as your mountain pose. Equally standing, evenly breathing and steady mind.
