I'm Morris Brossette, and these are specific warm-ups for the 800 meters. Okay, I've got three specific drills that I like to give my clients before an 800 meter run, and they're specific to the 800 meter run because it is a speed movement, and a speed event, and you need to have a quick reflex, you need to have a good flexion through the hip. So these three drills are very specific to the motor recruitment and movement pattern of an 800 meter run. Okay, the first drill we're going to do is a high skip. We're doing this because we need to get what's called a triple extensions. So we're working explosive movements but with proper technique and form at the hip. So we're working on exploding all the way through the foot and the toe and the calf at the same time lifting of the hip and the knee, keeping the trunk up tall. Next drill we're gonna work on is a fast skip. This is working more of the fast switch muscle fibers. When you're doing the 800 meters, it's a fast repetitive motion, you need a lot of quick firing movement. The knee is lifted from the hip, you're foot stays directly underneath your hip, you're not reaching out in front of you and swing, it's straight up and down. Trunk stays up, chest is tall. Okay, the third drill we're gonna do is what's called a high knee. Again, we're working on the quick firing and the quick fast twitch muscle fibers. And you can progress that to where you're doing every step. So it's one, two, three, four, five, six. The the other side, one, two, three, four, five, six. So all three of these drills are very specific because they help to establish a proper movement pattern and firing from lifting from your hip, keeping the foot underneath the hip, not reaching out and striding, and keeping the chest up nice and tall and torso tight.
