SARAH HAUER: Hi. I'm Sarah Hauer. SIG HAUER: And I'm Sig Hauer and we're professional practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. SARAH HAUER: We're here on behalf of Expert Village. SIG HAUER: And welcome to our video. SARAH HAUER: The conditions that we're discussing are conditions that are recognized by the World Health Organization that are treated by oriental medicine effectively. So, these are--I think it's 43 that they recognizes the most common ailments that can be treated by oriental medicine. SIG HAUER: And of course, there are many other ailments that they haven't necessarily researched or they just haven't mentioned that we do quite effective treatment with. Another area that we do very well with are emotional and psychological disorders, and again this is an area where people don't really think about something like acupuncture and Chinese herbs as being an area to pursue for emotional problems or psychological disorders but we do very well with emotional and psychological disorders. Part of that is that being holistic medicine, we don't separate the body from the mind, from the spirit, from the emotions. When we look at a patient, we see that all as one happy family, all in one person there. And so, in being holistic and treating a person holistically, we may be treating someone's low back but there's also some emotional aspects there. But even more importantly, when a person is coming and specifically talking about an emotional situation or a psychological thing that they want to deal with, we can focus on that even more so and be very effective with that. SARAH HAUER: We couldn't practice--we could not practice traditional Chinese medicine correctly if we did negate the emotions or separate the emotions and the spirit from your health. In traditional Chinese medicine, one of the diagnostic perspectives is from a five-element standpoint.
