Kevin Wilson has been skateboarding for more than twenty years. He spends most of his time street skating, but enjoys challenging his skills on ramps and bowls. He believes skateboarding is a great way to stay fit and learn how to set goals for yourself.
If you are going to get started skating you are going to want to have to wear the right shoes. Even though modern skateboarding shoes can be very expensive they include some features that protect your foot and add to the ability of skateboarding. The modern skateboard shoe has plenty of attraction to the bottom for maintaining grip on the deck and grip on the street. Modern skateboarding shoes also provide durable arch support and proper ankle support to keep you from rolling, twisting or springing your ankle. When first learning how to skateboard, it's not necessary to spend a lot of money on really expensive skateboarding shoes. Simply find a shoe that is comfortable, it feels good on your feet and it's easy to move around on a skateboard. The problem with skateboarding shoes is that they are going to receive damage. This is mostly because of the rough surface of the grip tape on the top of your deck. The most common shoe damage occurs on the side of the foot that is used for pulling up ollies. The side of the shoes scrape against the grip tape and creates holes. Many of these holes can be patched if using glue or duct tape. The most important thing is to have a shoe that has proper support as breathable light and feels comfortable while wearing them.
