ALICE MERRITT: Now I'm going to talk to you about the blood type diet. This diet is based off a book called "Eat Right for Your Blood Type." And basically, the premise of this diet is that depending on your blood type, whether you're A, B, O, or AB, there's a specific foods that you should eat that work best with your system. For instance, if you're a blood type O, you should have more meats in your diet because O blood types are cultivators and their bodies process meat much more effectively. If you're a type A, you should have more vegetables and less meat because for a blood type A, your body processes vegetables. And blood type B is one of the only blood types that can actually really handle a lot of dairy products, so that maybe something. And then A and B is a--blood type AB is a combination of food choices for blood type A and food choices for blood type B. The only thing that of concern with this type of diet is, I ask--ask yourself if you're a vegetarian and you're blood type O, what do you suppose to do because you don't eat a lot of meat products? So it's important when you're reviewing diets to ask yourself if this is something that you could see yourself following as a lifelong plan. You really don't want to go on-diets and then off-diets, because you end up having increase and decrease in your weight, and you kind of get the yo-yo diet effect. If you're interested in learning more about a healthy diet plan for you to meet your nutrition goals, it's always important to consult a registered dietician.
