DR. CAMERON CRAVEN: Hi. I'm Dr. Cameron Craven from Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Austin, Texas, and I'm going to talk to you a little about breast augmentation. Breast augmentation surgery can be performed in the office under local IV sedation or in the operating room under general anesthesia. It is generally performed using silicon or saline implants which can be placed above or below the muscles of the chest wall behind the breast tissue. Incisions can be placed below the breast, around the areola or through the armpit, and in some instances, through the bellybutton. Breast implant size, shape and type should be discussed with your cosmetic surgeon. He will be able to guide you in choosing the appropriate implant that would be right for you.
