DR. GREGORY NIKOLAIDIS: Hi, I'm Doctor Gregory Nikolaidis here to discuss thread lifts. Thread lifts were popular in the United States about five, six years ago. They we're first introduced by a group of Russian physicians who brought over a thread called the Aptos thread. These threads had barbs on other either side so that one of the physicians insert them through a cannula, these barbs would grab onto the skin and lift the skin. The problem was that often times, these barbs would not hold onto the skin or often times, patients were too thin in order to benefit from this type of treatment. In my practice and in a lot of practices around the country, these threads have been replaced by deep dermal fillers and fat fillers like [PH] Sculptura and [PH] Radiesse.
