DR. GREGORY NIKOLAIDIS: Hi, I'm Doctor Gregory Nikolaidis with Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery here to discuss dermal fillers. The two most popular dermal fillers used on our practice and throughout the United States are Juvederm and Restylane. These are both hyaluronic acid fillers, meaning that they're developed from hyaluronic acid byproducts. They're used to help restore volume in the face and fill in fine lines around the mouth and around the eyes. Dermal fillers have been used for years in dermatology and cosmetic surgery. They're primarily used in patients in their 30's to 50's but it can be used in patients in their 20's for acne scars or for patients in their 60's and 70's after they've had a face lift. The Juvederm and Restylane typically last about 5 to nine months, depending on the location. And most patients find that with repeat injections, they tend to have longer lasting duration.
