JAMES TAYLOR: This is James Taylor of Portland State University, Portland State Lacrosse Club and now I'm going to show you how to shoot a lacrosse ball. What you want to do is the body mechanics and the mechanics where you hold your stick are much like when you're passing it to your partner. What we want to do is have your hands thirteen, twelve to thirteen inches apart, bottom hand at the butt, top hands twelve to thirteen inches apart from that. Once you've caught the ball and receive it from your partner, what you want to do is turn your body sideways, feet planted, nice athletic position, knees bent, extend with the stick, your arms out, stick out in a way, hide the head of your stick behind your head, your chin to your shoulder, and then at that point what you want to do is you want to take a few--what we call crow hops towards the goal. You're going to come walking towards the goal, boom...boom, turn your hips, turn your foot, plant, turn your shoulders, release the ball, follow through.
