JASON WARREN: Hi, my name is Jason Warren. I'm a kickboxing instructor here in Miami Shores at Chi Martial Arts. In this clip we're going to talk about the round kick which is a variation on a roundhouse kick. From your fighting position, let me first say when you deliver your roundhouse kick you want to go all the way through the target. I don't want to just kick and bring the leg back but I want to envision going 360 degrees and landing in the same spot. So I'm kicking through whatever is in front of me. I'm going 360 degrees through. What that does is it generates the force. It's a very powerful kick. What I'm using to kick is either my tibia or my shin bone or I can also use my instep. Oftentimes in kickboxing to make our weapon longer we may point our feet and use the instep but for beginners it's not recommended because those bones in your foot are not developed. So from your fighting position again your heel is raised kick in through the target and landing in the same spot. That's the kickboxing roundhouse. Five things to remember the kickboxing round kick starting from fighting position. One, you want to have a good base. Two, the heel of the back foot is raised, Three, I want to travel 360 degrees. Four, I want to land in the same spot. Five, I want my hands up and I want to be able to do that kick again multiple times.
