JEFF COHEN: Hello, I'm Jeff Cohen. In this segment, we're going to talk about how to hit the angle shot. And first of all when it comes to hitting an angle shot, you wouldn't really want to attempt this from the middle of the court. You'd really want to make sure that you wait for a ball that's closer to the doubles alleys if you're playing doubles or even the single sideline if you're playing singles. And the way that you execute this shot is you want to make sure that you get underneath the ball and you brush up on the ball. When you hit a normal, penetrating ground stroke, I'm a big advocate of swinging through the ball and having lots of length and extension on your follow-through. On this particular shot, you're going to do the exact opposite. So when you get your racket underneath the ball, you're going to swing up abruptly so you're not going have as much follow-through. You're going to brush up on the ball and you're going to pull off the shot very quickly. That's going to get the ball to go up and down deep into the court, and once again try to hit the outside of the ball when you hit this shot. All right, so just a couple of things to keep in mind when you're hitting this angle shot, number one, you want to make sure that you're hitting this shot where the ball is closer to the single sideline or the doubles alleys. And number two, make sure that you brush up off the ball. You don't want to swing through the ball quite as much as you would on a normal ground stroke. On the angle, it's kind of an abrupt low to high swing and you want to finish up rather quickly. Good luck on hitting those angles.
