JIMMY GOETHALS: Another great play in baseball, which is one of my favorite plays, is the play at the plate. A lot of times, the play at the plate is coming from the outfield, which in turn you have to do a relay. A relay is basically when a ball is batted to the outfield, the outfielder throws it in to one of the infielders, myself being the third baseman, where I'm going to catch it, giving him a big target to throw to. I like to call these my uprights. I want him to throw it right through my uprights. What I want to do is give him a good target. And as that ball is coming to me, catch it, turn and catch it on my glove side. That way I'm in a good position where I can make a quick exchange, turn and throw that ball straight into home plate, making it the fastest relay because his arm can only throw so far, I can only throw so far, we need to double up to get that ball into home as fast as possible. This is how we're going to do it. Four, four, four! Right there, that runner has no chance. We did it the right way. I had a good throw from the outfielder. I've got in a good position, and my catcher was sitting, waiting for that runner to be out.
