JULES HELM: Hello, my name is Jules Helm. TALIA CASTRO-POZO: Hi, my name is Talia Castro-Pozo. JULES HELM: And we're both instructors here at Stepping Out Studios in New York City. Hi, next we're going to learn how to "cross-body lead with an inside turn" for Salsa and or Mambo. We're going to start off. I'm going to show you the leader's footwork then we'll do the follower's footwork and then we'll put it together. So let's take it here sideways. Leaders, you're going to go forward, quick, quick. You're going to open up slow then you're going to back break and you're going to rotate your partner, quick, quick, slow. Showing you that one more time. Requires a little more coordination than just the standard cross-body lead. So you have quick, quick, you open the slot there so your partner has a pathway and then you rotate quick, quick, slow. Follower's footwork, you have back break, quick, quick, slow. On the front break you're going to go forward then you'll turn quick, quick, slow and back break, quick, quick slow, turning quick, quick, slow. Finish the turn, quick, quick slow. Here's how that looks together. We have quick, quick ,slow, opening up, rotating our partner, same thing, quick, quick, slow, quick, quick, slow. So now this is not only requiring coordination for the individual but it's teamwork, quick, quick. You both have to be coordinated and working together. TALIA CASTRO-POZO: For the follower you also have to engage your core so that you can stay balanced as you turn. JULES HELM: And that is how you do the cross-body lead with an inside turn.
