LAURIE LAING: How to choose your equipment. In the old days, do you remember when you had a ski that was this length, you measured it by putting your hand straight up and it would hit the bottom of your wrist, super long. And now, we've gone to a shape ski. And because of that technology, we've gone to different lengths. The length is shorter. For an intermediate skier, you want to have the tip of your ski be between your chin and your eyes. And for an advanced skier, you want that to be above your eyes. Now, poles. When choosing your poles, you want to take the pole in your hand, put it on a flat surface and grab it underneath the basket. Your arm should be a little less than a 90-degree angle. That's how you choose your poles. In addition to just choosing your poles and your skis, you always want to make sure that when you go out on the slopes that you demo them, and the best thing to do is make sure that they're comfortable. You want to feel real good in your equipment.
